Sergio Pérez , also known as Checo , is a Mexican racing driver. He started his career in single-seaters in 2004. Three years later he was champion of the British Formula 3 National Class . He debuted in the GP2 Series in 2009 and the following year he was runner-up with the Addax Team . He made his Formula 1 debut in 2011 with Sauber . In the following season he achieved three podium finishes and moved on to McLaren for 2013. After one season with the British team, he was signed by Force India , which later became Racing Point . In these two, he was on the podium in seven races. In 2020, he achieved his first career victory by winning the Sakhir GP , becoming the second Mexican after Pedro Rodríguez to win a Grand Prix. Starting in the 2021 season, he will race for the Red Bull Racing team.
