Andra Elena Mihai, a.k.a AEM Design, is an automotive artist from Bucharest, Romania and creates awesome original car drawings.
Her passion for cars started at a very young age. She credits her father for nurturing this passion as he would often let her drive his Dacia 1300 and support her artistry which Andra believes is an inherited gift. Her love for anything with wheels led to her first professional collaboration with a local car garage when she was 19. Her drawing career thus kicked off and from then on, she just hasn’t looked backwards. Now, 10 years later, she is a fully fledged automotive artist with high hopes of reaching the world with her art.
How AEM Design came to be.
Even though she tried multiple times to work in a corporation or work in a role that was deemed “suitable for a girl”, she could not stop from drawing cars in her spare time. Finally, in December 2015, she decided to take the plunge and quit her job to pursue her dreams full time under the AEM Design banner. She draws everyday with the intention of surpassing her previous projects and admits that it is a never-ending battle of making her cars better while also trying to better herself. We asked her how she keeps herself motivated and inspired to which she answered that her team of passionate gear heads constantly teach her new stuff about cars and she attends automotive exhibitions regularly to keep the flame lit.

Practice makes Perfect
Andra is constantly trying to improve her skills and hopes to evolve into an artist who takes art from the paper on to actual cars themselves. She enjoys each moment and each stroke when she works and pours a bit of her soul into everything she creates.
Andra is an ardent fan of team BMW, but harbors a sweet spot for the Renault Sport team too. She credits this to the fact that she absolutely adores the Renault Maxi Megane. Don’t worry Andra, we understand! Although she has not had the pleasure of meeting her favourite drivers, she is eagerly waiting for the day when she meets Nakai-San from RAUH-Welt BEGRIFF & Marco Wittmann or Tim Glock from BMW DTM and get them to share some interesting stories with her.
On people that she looks up to, Andra says that there are several but someone who deserves special mention is Alex Seremet from BMW Romania. Mr.Sermet, she feels, has supported her AEM Design journey, constantly inspired her, is smart, creative and kind. He has also been a tremendous help during her art exhibitions. He seems like a “one of a kind” man and we at the GP BOX would like to extend our thanks to him for nurturing the talent that is Andra. She also adds that she resonates deeply with the Niki Lauda quote “A race is not over until it is won”.
On being asked why she chose to become a part of the GP BOX family; she mentions that it was a “perfect” platform for her needs and that the odds of achieving her goal were now higher.
