Where it all began?
Drawing and painting were my earliest form of expression and the most fulfilling outlet for my creativity. Being dyslexic I had always found drawing as a more effective way to get my ideas and thoughts out into the world. I sold my first canvas painting when I was 13 years old and the satisfaction of completing a technical piece of work with a very happy customer is unbeatable, and having worked in various places around the world knowing it will be around well beyond me is very humbling.
What’s your motivation?
I really don’t know how to answer this question because, despite the trial and error and work that doesn’t meet my personal expectations, I still get up every day and keep working of multiple variations until it’s reached a certain standard. Research and color theory are never-ending journeys and I never have any doubt about my artistic journey. Commitment and passion.
What can your fans expect from you in the future/What are your goals?
Ever higher standards and technical development are important personal goals. I’d like to reach more people with my work meet Riders and Drivers and have my one-off drawings or paintings signed and auctioned for a good cause. It’s important to give something back while people kindly support my art.
Who are your favorite racers or what teams do you support current / past?
I haven’t watched F1 since 2017 but I’ll always love the Ferrari team, the charisma of Enzo and the lore of the greats who have raced for Ferrari are very intoxicating, not to mention the passion of the tifosi. Gilles Villeneuve is my favourite driver of all time for his will to win and the epic car control he had, sadly his short time in F1 abruptly ended after a fatal accident during the qualifying session at Zolder in 1982.
Niki Lauda was the polar opposite type of driver to Gilles Villeneuve, however the straight-talking pragmatic Austrian will always be remembered for his near-fatal accident at the Nurburgring and the season-long duel with James Hunt.
Who is the most famous driver/rider that you have met? When, where?
I haven’t really met any riders or drivers other than a passing handshake with a few BSB riders and knockhill, I’m not very good at approaching people I admire.
What would you like your fans to know about you?
Just a biker who loves to paint and draw. I hope that my enthusiasm for motorcycle racing and retro F1 shows in my detailed artwork, learning is a never-ending journey, no matter how much experience I have there is always room to improve, explore and develop.
Who is someone that you look up to?
Niki Lauda. Guts, intelligence, and motivation.
What prompted you to join the GPBox?
The quality of the work of other artists pushes and inspires my sketchbook ideas. The presentation of the artwork and memorabilia is perfect and the website is easy to navigate as a customer and seller. Ideal.
How has your experience selling been so far with regards to your expectation?
I’ve only had a couple of sales this month, it was straightforward to add products and send them off. If they have positive reviews it means the customer is happy with the experience using the website, finding what they were looking for, and receiving their purchase.
